1. Why am I experiencing connectivity problems when I try to login?
1) What is your ip address? Your ip address can be obtained by pointing your browser to http://www.whatismyip.com
2) Please make sure that you are not trying to connect to Visual
Trading from behind a personal or a corporate firewall (such as Norton
Firewall, Zone Alarm or a router). In order for VT demo and VT live to
work from behind a firewall, you must have port 80 opened.
If you are certain that there is no firewall blocking your
connection, please perform the following tasks the next time you are
unable to connect:
1) Please select Start->Run and type in command.com
This will take you to the DOS prompt where we can now enter the needed commands
2) Let’s first try to see if you can reach our systems. Please type
ping vtdemo.fxserver.com (if you are trying to use our demo)
Or
ping vtlive.fxserver.com (if you are trying to use our live trading)
3) Now, lets see how our systems are reached from your computer. Please type
tracert vtdemo.fxserver.com (for demo)
Or
tracert vtlive.fxserver.com (for live)
Please copy all the responses that you received from the above 3
steps by right clicking on command prompt window and selecting "select
all". Once all of the text is selected, right click on the window
again, this will copy your results into the clipboard. Please paste all
the information in an email, including the time you could not establish
connection and send it to techsupport@vtsystems.com
Once we have the above information we will be able to further assist you.
2. Why do I get a "Version Check Error" when I try to log into the Visual Trading platform?
Your Visual Trading platform is out of date. A new version has been
released and you must run an update. Please run an update by going to:
Start->Programs->Visual Trading->Update Visual Trading
3. How do I zoom In/Out in charts?
There are several different ways to view charts within VT. While
using any of the available methods, you have the ability to zoom in/out
on certain sections of the active chart. The quickest way to perform
these tasks is to use the buttons below (as shown in the image
attachment) that are located in the VT Navigation Window. As a keyboard
shortcut, you can use the +/- keys located in your keyboard number pad
to zoom the active chart in/out horizontally.
Lesson #1 in the VT Multimedia Tutorial located at:
http://www.vtsystems.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Tutorial&file=index
... provides a detailed video tutorial describing how each of these tools in the VT Navigation Window functions.

4. I am behind a firewall. What ports do I need to have opened in order for Visual Trading to work?
Both the Demo and Live systems require port 80 to be open.
5. I did something with Visual Trading and now when I log in I
do not see any windows; only the icon on the bottom of the screen is
visible. How do I fix this?
You have accidentally depressed the auto-hide button and the Navigation
Window now needs to be brought back manually. Please hold your mouse
cursor all the way on the left side of the screen (somewhere in the
middle) for 10-20 seconds. This will bring the Navigation Window back
on the screen. Make sure that you press the auto-hide button back in.
This is a button that looks like a pin- it is first in the right-most
column of buttons in the navigation window. This will always keep your
navigation window on top. You can open any window from the Navigation
Window, once you have it on your screen.
6. My charts do not show up correctly.
It is hard for us to tell exactly what is wrong with your charts.
You can help us help you by taking a snapshot of your screen and
sending it to us so that we can analyze it. To do so please do the
following:
1) When you have Visual Trading on your screen with the problematic
chart in front of you, please press the print screen button (located
above the insert button). This will take a snapshot of your screen.
2) Please open paint shop by doing Start->Programs->Accessories->Paint
3) Select Edit->Paste. This should paste the screenshot to paint.
4) Save the file in any location desired.
5) Email techsupport@vtsystems.com and attach the saved file as an attachment.
7. How do I change the background color of my charts?
To change the background color of the charts please do the following:
Right Click on the Chart and select Chart Properties. Switch to the Spread Band tab.
There you will see two options:
Background Color – this will change the background color of the chart and
Background Color for High/Low zone – this will change the background color for the High /Low Zone located on the chart.
8. How can I enlarge the chart’s history length?
To enlarge the available history length on the charts, please follow the following steps:
In the Navigator Window, go to Options->Properties->General->General Properties.
There you will see History Length field which you can increase up to 2048.
9. How do I insert a crosshair?
From the Navigator Window please select: Options->Properties->General->Cross Hair
10. How can I reset my demo balance?
Please provide us with your demo login user id and we will be more
than happy to reset your demo balance with the amount you specify.
11. How do I print Visual Trading charts in color?
Right click on the chart and select Page Setup and uncheck Black
and White Prints. You should now be able to print the charts in color.
Advanced FAQ
12. How do I run VT through a proxy server?
To insert your proxy settings please follow the following steps:
Double click on the Visual Trading Icon and when the login screen
comes up, please click on Work Offline. Once the Navigator window comes
up, please select Options->Servers->
There you will have an option to select Live or Demo trading. The
window that comes up will allow you to input the address and port of
your proxy server. Please remember that our Demo and Live server
requires your proxy server to have port 80 available.
13. How can I use DDE with VT?
In order to use DDE, please locate and open the following file:
dde.xls , which is located in your Visual Trading directory.
Example:
C:Program FilesVTradingdde.xls
14. Does VT have API?
We currently do not offer API through our system, but do plan to implement it in the near future.
15. What is Trader’s Range?
“Trader’s Range” is a feature that allows you to specify the
maximum number of pip deviation from the current price (in either
direction) that you will accept. “Trader’s Range” is set to 0 by
default. This is a very useful feature to have in a fast moving market
to try to reduce the risk of getting re-quoted.
For example:
Normally when the market moves while you are placing an order, you
will get a window asking you to confirm the new price. If you place a
trader’s range for example of 10 and the market moves less than 10
pips, then your orders will automatically process, without asking you
for confirmation.
16. Is there a way to send orders without having to confirm them?
Please proceed to the following menu:
Options->Properties->General->General Properties
and uncheck the Order confirmations checkbox. You will now be able to send orders without having to confirm them.
